This remarkable fountain pen pays homage to Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, the visionary leader who unified Japan and established the Edo period, ushering in centuries of peace and stability. A commanding figure in history, Ieyasu’s leadership shaped the nation’s cultural and political landscape, leaving an enduring legacy.

Against a rich green urushi background, the shogun stands amidst a scene of flowing sakura blossoms, symbols of renewal and the fleeting nature of power and life. The blossoms, rendered in red, pink, and gold maki-e, drift gracefully around him, their delicate forms contrasting with the weight of his legacy.

A dove, a symbol of peace and wisdom, perches gently on a slender branch on the cap, a poignant reminder of the harmony Ieyasu ultimately secured for Japan. The interplay of a black urushi background with gold maki-e shading enhances the depth and movement of the composition, creating a dynamic yet balanced visual narrative.

A fusion of history, symbolism, and exceptional craftsmanship, this pen is a testament to strength, wisdom, and the enduring beauty of tradition.

About Danitrio Sho-Hakkaku Fountain Pen Series:

The Sho-Hakkaku is a Danitrio series pen that is octagonal-shaped.  Danitrio wanted to create a shorter version of the Hakkaku. Hakkaku means "discovery" in Japanese.

Nib Details:

This pen is furnished with an 18k Gold, two-toned #6 nib. What has been described by many Danitrio collectors as the fireball nib is an image of “Kaen-Kohai” which is a flame-shaped halo of “Fudo Myoo” (Acala, the God of Fire). This halo is commonly painted on the back of Japanese Buddhist statues.

An UrushiPen.com representative will contact you to confirm nib tip size preference (fine, medium, broad, or stub) following the placement of the order.
