This charming pen is a tribute to the cherished Chinese motif of children at play, a symbol of youth, innocence, and carefree joy. Rooted in centuries of cultural exchange between China and Japan, this motif has become a shared artistic treasure, representing the importance of family, the wish for a successful marriage, and the aspiration for abundant, prosperous descendants.
The 100 Kids design is steeped in historical significance, thought to reference Zhou Wen Wang, the founder of the Zhou Dynasty, who had 99 sons and adopted one more to complete his vision of having 100 children. This rich narrative is captured in the intricate maki-e artistry on the barrel, where every detail reflects the cultural heritage and social values of the time.
About Danitrio Genkai Series:
The owner of Danitrio had called this series of pens "Genkai", meaning "limit" in Japanese. The intent was that this would be the largest pen series of Danitrio and no other pen would be larger than it. Little did he know that later on he would develop a series with an even larger pen called the Yokozuna.

About the Artisan:
This pen was hand-painted by Tatsuya Todo (Kosetsu). He is an established maki-e artist who carries a strong name in the urushi fountain pen world. He was trained under the notable Masanori Omote (another artisan that works with Danitrio). He has had his pieces exhibited in numerous urushi exhibitions and holds the Dento Kogei-shi title, which an honorary title meaning "master of traditional crafts" and is given only to a select few artisans who have a significant contribution to their craft.
